Every year Triangles around the nation or even internationally celebrate Founders Day. In the fall of 1906, sixteen civil engineering juniors at the University of Illinois began the association that became Triangle Fraternity. These founders based their organization on the principles of honor, friendship, character, brotherhood, courage, and ideals. They quickly developed plans and, on 15 April 1907, incorporated Triangle in the State of Illinois. The date of incorporation has been designated as Founders’ Day, and Triangle appropriately celebrates it every year at each chapter. Its the celebration of Triangle Fraternity’s beginning in the world.

On April 15 2012,  UCI Triangle celebrated their Founders Day at the Orange County Mining Co. Where there was gourmet food and a nice open window view of orange county on top of a big hill, while in the luxury of a nicely mining themed restaurant. Also we awarded brothers for their achievements that helped make UCI Triangle prosper to what it is today.

Founders Day is also a great way for a brother to take a special beautiful girl as a date.

Join Triangle Fraternity for our Spring Recruitment events. Meet at the flagpoles at 6:30pm, for all the days events happen.

First on April 6th, we will be having a Scorpion BBQ Night to gather with potentials and actives to get to know each other, while eating free food fresh from the grill in Vista Del Campo Norte. Rides will be provided from the flagpole area.

Then on April 10th, we will have game night where potentials and actives play board games at the Triangle House to have fun. Rides will also be provided from the flagpole area.

Next on April 11th, we have an Info Night where we will inform all the potentials about Triangle in more in depth and answer any questions from potentials that can be answered by actives.

Then finally on April 12th, we have our SubZero Ice Cream Night. We will be making homemade ice cream with dry ice at the Triangle House. It has an extra carbonated kick and flavor that will make your tastes buds want more. Again rides will be provided from the flagpole area.

Our last Thanksgiving dinner in November of 2011 was filled with many festivities, food, and social gatherings. It was a great way to bond as brothers, meet alumni from UCI Triangle, and see family members or the special someone for each brother.



Brother Sami Abdelghani is a member of Kappa class of the UCI Colony. Originally a electrical engineer, he found his true passion in programming and computers his spring quarter of his first year(which is the same quarter he pledged into the Triangle Fraternity). He is currently majoring in computer science and engineering.

Sami Abdelghani  is currently the Webmaster and Editor-In-Chief of UCITriangle.com. He has also held the position of  Athletics Director in the past.

He is currently learning how to program apps under his soon-to-be boss, Tim Li( who is currently an Alumni of UCI Triangle).

His hobbies include working-out, playing video games, and philosophy.

This past weekend, Triangle Fraternity at UCI celebrated their National Founder’s Day by joining together and eating expensive food at The Bistango Restaurant in Irvine. Planned by Brother Andrew Nguyen, the event was an intimate get together, set off in a room private from the rest of the restaurant. Guests enjoyed their meals while listening to heart felt speeches from former president Alex Lopez as well as notable alumni Stuart Masuda and Jon Okunaga.

The event was capped off with a beautiful dessert of dark chocolate and sweet cream cheese cake and the presentation of the fraternity awards. This year the Triangle Award, for the most exemplary member, the Daniel Paulson Award, for the member who has developed the most in the past year, and the Bob the Builder Award, for the brother who was most instrumental in the fraternity’s building projects, were joined by three new honors: the Stuart Masuda award for the member who has put the most time and effort into the fraternity and the Stuart J. Masuda award, named after its first recipient, for the most exemplary alumnus.

The dinner marks the one hundred and fourth anniversary of the founding of Triangle as a national organization and the third Founder’s Day of more to come at UCI.

Running parallel with the President’s Leadership Academy is the DRIVE Recruitment Seminar. There, attendees learn the importance of branding and marketing in today’s world. Not just a marketing course, DRIVE stresses living your values day to day to improve your brand and doing great things in your community to increase your visibility.

Triangle Fraternity believes that a worthwhile organization markets itself through its actions and endeavors, not through an artificial campaign designed to represent something that doesn’t truly exist in the organization.

Every January, the national organization hosts President’s Leadership Weekend, a three day — two night long leadership academy where attendees are taught the importance of team work, communication, delegation and clear communication. The event is hosted at no additional cost to the chapters. With the help of travel scholarships, which reduce the cost of traveling to Indianapolis to almost zero, The UCI Colony was able to send five members in 2011 and three members in 2012 to begin building the bedrock that will help them become effective leaders in the organization and later in life.

The Editorial Team at UCI Triangle would like to congratulate Brother Tuan Tu on being recognized as Scholar of Winter Quarter 2011.

Tuan was the holder of the highest GPA in the Fraternity, with a 4.0 overall, double majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Tuan is currently working and graduated from UCI at the end of Spring Quarter 2011. He is currently an alumni of UCI Triangle.

In May of 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked for 24 hours and over 83 miles to raise 27,000 dollars to help fight cancer.

Now, every year during the spring, Colleges Against Cancer and the American Cancer Society come together to hold Relay for Life, a 24 hour walkathon that takes place in Aldrich Park, so that we may walk alongside him. An emotional period of time, the Relay is marked by hope for the future and remembrance of the past as dozens of campus organizations walk together, raising money for a cure.

Triangle Fraternity is proud to be participating in this event for our fourth consecutive year and welcome any interested persons to join us in Aldrich Park.
